I decided that finishing a book and launching it on Amazon deserved more than just a nap. So, I got this custom Yang Xiuying charm and standee made—partly as a memento, and partly because it reminds me of where this all started.
A long time ago (nearly twenty years, to be exact), I drew a little Chibi mermaid with a prince in my school notebook. It was just a simple pencil sketch, but I remember thinking: “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a story where a mermaid doesn’t have to sacrifice anything? Where she doesn’t have to trade her voice or her life just to get what she wants?”
Fast forward two decades, and that idle thought finally turned into a real book.
In my story, my mermaid doesn’t lose a thing. In fact, she’s here to take everything she wants. She only wins. 😏
Looking at the photos and video, it’s a bit ironic, isn’t it? She looks so small and harmless here, considering she’s currently on a mission to wreck an entire kingdom. I’ve put the video below so you can see her in action (well, as much action as an acrylic standee can have).
